How a disabled veteran transformed his body – through yoga!

Almost all yoga teachers turned him away – but he found a teacher and managed to transform his life within a year. How amazing is that?

To all yoga teachers: Don’t turn anyone away just because the situation might seem “hopeless”.

Oh, and to all future yoga students: You can do it – no matter where you are now! The proof? See below 🙂

  1. Oh man, I cried so hard at this for almost a whole day last week, and shared the story with my students! How heartbreaking that other teachers turned him away! But how amazing that he found support and then *did* the work.

    • I know! I forward the link to anyone who says they “can’t do yoga” because of this or that injury. I also wrote about the veteran who lost both his legs – and then started doing yoga again! So inspiring!

  2. Absolutely, awesome. As a matter of fact, I am also currently working in a military and veteran suicide program, but in the area of technology and digital repository for suicide researchers. I hope someone is doing some research on the benefits of yoga and meditation in veteran rehabilitation. Thanks so much for sharing this.

  3. I saw this yesterday. I balled my eyes out, sent it to everyone. Truly so wonderful. Also on a funny note, I love that Diamond Dallas Page is now not just an extreme wrestler but an “Extremeeeeeee” yoga guru. 🙂

  4. This is such an inspiring story; I started crying! He such an amazing man for not giving up either. Kudos to him and to his yoga instructor. Both very inspiring men! Thanks so much for this post.

  5. This is such an amazing story! I posted it on my FB yesterday. He & all the others out there that have been told “you’ll just have to live with it” (IT, being whatever ailment doesnt respond to a pill) To them I say Yes you can! Never say cant! Yoga is the great transformer of lives, this is why I am a yoga teacher & yoga therapist. And to the Yoga teacher who didn’t turn him away. Shanti! Jayam!
